BREVARD, NC – North Carolina police evacuated local businesses on Sunday after finding several suspicious incendiary devices near a Baptist church and a county building.

Police in Brevard, a town of about 7,500 in western North Carolina, said they received a phone call at about 10:30 am for a report on the devices near Brevard First Baptist Church and the County Service Building in Brevard County. Transylvania.

When the police responded, they found several small devices that had not detonated, the police said in a press release.

The area was isolated and local establishments were evacuated as a precautionary measure, police said. There were no injuries.

Councilor Geraldine Dinkins said she was saddened by the discovery of the devices in Brevard, which she called a “united community”.

“This is just an act of cowardice, and Brevard is better than that,” she said.

Police said they are working with the Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office, the NC State Department of Investigation, the FBI and the ATF to investigate.
