Nobody saves the world is a new colorful dungeon RPG from the makers of Guacamelee

Microsoft just unveiled a series of promising new indie games during the ID @ Xbox Showcase, and one of the most colorful and interesting was Nobody Saves the World from developer Guacamelee, DrinkBox Studios. At first glance, the game may look like just another dungeon-hack RPG, although it is one with a beautiful art style, but DrinkBox is doing some fun things to mix the formula. First of all, you will eventually be able to freely switch between 15 different shapes, including classic RPG classes like Ranger and Rogue, as well as some less typical shapes like a bodybuilder, mermaid or horse. Also, say goodbye to level grinding – progression comes from completing missions, not hitting enemies in the head for XP. You can check out the debut trailer for Nobody Saves the World, below.

  • Questing, not grinding – The player’s progression and new skills are obtained exclusively by completing missions, not by defeating monsters. The missions range from “Complete a Dungeon”, “Poison Baddies” and “Animate a fellow rabbit lover”.
  • Missions unlock new forms – Level up and unlock new forms by completing missions. Each new form has specific strengths and weaknesses and new skills to experiment with.
  • Combine skills in a way – Customize your Forms by equipping skills from other Forms: mix and match skills in fun and unexpected ways!
  • Evolving dungeons – As you become stronger, the dungeons generated by procedures will increase in difficulty and complexity to keep you alert!
