Rainbow Six Quarantine is currently scheduled to launch only in Ubisoft’s financial year 2021-22 (April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022), after it was formally postponed, along with Far Cry 6, in October last year. Some felt that the date of Ubisoft Connect meant that the game’s release was quietly postponed, but unfortunately it is not meant to be.
First announced at E3 2019, Quarantine is a spin-off of Rainbow Six Siege and, in particular, its popular limited-time Outbreak event. The 3-player PvE game will see squads of operators battling the creations of a new deadly parasite, using reflexes and FPS tactics to survive.
The game was initially scheduled for early 2020, but saw two delays, one in late 2019 and one in 2020. The most recent delay was tied directly to workflow problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The name and its associations probably don’t help much at the moment.
Along with Quarantine and Far Cry 6, Ubisoft now also has a Star Wars game under development at Ubisoft Massive, which will be the start of a “long-term collaboration” between the French developer-editor and Disney.
