No proof of residence is required for people to take pictures of Covid in El Paso, elsewhere in Texas

The state of Texas has instructed the city’s health departments to provide people with the Covid-19 vaccine, regardless of place of residence, and that includes people living outside the county, state or country, said Dr. Hector Ocaranza, an authority on El Paso’s health.

Ocaranza said there is no proof of residence required to receive the free vaccine and the El Paso Department of Health does not ask for proof of immigration status, as undocumented individuals live on this side of the border and need access to the vaccine.

“There will be people who will be afraid just as they were afraid to come and take the test and thought we would disclose any information about them, which we are not,” he said.

The directive means that Mexican residents can also have access to the vaccine, as long as they are health professionals, over 65 years of age or have a chronic condition.

“We know that there are a large number of people who manage to cross the border and belong to any of the priority and pre-registered groups, will be called up and the vaccine will be administered,” said Ocaranza.
