No one left to fix Journey To The Savage Planet at Stadia

Journey To The Savage Planet arrived on Google Stadia last month, but unfortunately it came with a game-breaking bug that makes it impossible to play. It is a very serious problem that you would think that the developers would be working as quickly as possible. However, Google dismissed these developers earlier this month and now no one seems to know who should be working on a fix.

Journey To The Savage Planet was made by Typhon Studios, which were purchased by Google in 2019. Unfortunately, the developers were fired when Google closed its internal studios just a few weeks ago, which affected about 150 jobs.

In Stadia, some players are unable to play because it freezes when trying to select an option from the main menu. Looking for a solution to this, the Reddit user “lordubuntu” contacted Google and the publisher of Journey To The Savage Planet, 505 Games, who seemed to point a finger at each other to say “this is their problem”.

Stadia support said they should contact 505. However, 505 said that all game code and data for Stadia were owned by Google, so there was nothing they could do. In addition, 505 support said that Google acted as editor of the game on Stadia because it owned Typhoon Studios, so Google was the only one that could really solve the problem.

The latest update to the saga is a comment on the lordubuntu topic by a Stadia community manager, who wrote: “I understand how frustrating this situation is and I’m sorry for the delayed update. We are actively working with our partners to identify a fix and I will do my best to pass the updates on. ”

A similar answer on Stadia’s Twitter says he is working with his “partner editor” on a fix. However, I can’t help wondering what they mean by that. If 505 didn’t work on the version of Stadia, then surely it can’t be them?

I hope there is a solution for players who are enjoying the game at Stadia. Our review of Journey To The Savage Planet says it is a fun space game and it would be a shame if one of the few games that Stadia has remained impossible to play.

I contacted Google and 505 Games for comment, but I didn’t receive any representatives at the time of publication.
