No need for consultation at the Jacksonville federal vaccine site

JACKSONVILLE, Florida. – Starting on Wednesday, getting the coronavirus vaccine in Jacksonville should be much easier and hassle free when the new federal website opens at 7 am at the Gateway Mall.

According to the organizers, if you meet the most recent age requirements, you don’t need an appointment to get the injection, although pre-registration is encouraged by visiting myvaccine.fl.gov or calling 866-200-3762.

The site had a simulation on Tuesday and organizers said there should be no delays or problems.

The two large tents at the site will receive 2,000 people a day to get the Pfizer vaccine. Another 1,000 people can do the filming at two satellite locations.

People are encouraged to register for photos online, but it is not necessary. You can get the injection if you meet the governor’s requirements, which include people aged 65 and over, health professionals, K-12 school employees aged 50 or over, as well as police and fire fighters aged 50 or over.

Robert Spence of FEMA said the site has the ability to expand or reduce its size based on the amount of vaccine available.

“Now, with this pre-registration it is preferable, but regardless of the numbers, we still have the ability to expand. We believe we have enough vision to not believe that we will be invaded, ”said Spence.

Even though it is a federal website, at this point you must be a resident of Florida.

The site will offer the first or second injection of the Pfizer vaccine. Even if you took your Pfizer injection elsewhere, just bring your vaccination records.

“The process that we believe takes 30 to 40 minutes to get the person in and out of the door, but again depends on the number of people who are here,” said Spence.

The two satellite sites will operate from 9 am to 5 pm daily, while the installation of the main hub at Gateway Mall will operate from 7 am to 7 pm, seven days a week.

The site is expected to be active for at least 60 days and will work in conjunction with state vaccines at the Regency Square Mall.
