Defender Kyle Juszczyk may end up re-signing with the 49ers, but no deal has been reached yet.
49ers general manager, John Lynch, tweeted, “I’m thirsty. Niners fans, do you want some ‘Juice?’ ”Early Sunday morning and the reference to Juszczyk’s nickname led many to believe that he would sign again with 49ers. Juszczyk’s agent Joe Linta referred to Lynch’s tweet in a response saying his client remains on track for the free agency.
“I would also like juice. But is expensive this time of year, ”Linta said, via ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Linta and the 49ers are ready to speak again Sunday afternoon. If the conversation does not end with an agreement on a new contract, the other 31 teams in the league can contact Juszczyk and Linta when the negotiation window opens on Monday.
