15:14, 1H – JD Notae adds three points from the left corner of a Moses Moody find. Moody then catches a difficult rebound on the other side. The guard’s recovery is going to be big tonight. Moody was responsible for all points in Arkansas, as he leads 7-5 in the first media timeout.
16:40, 1H – Moses Moody responded to a midsize jumper from Keyshawn Bryant with one of his own just inside the foul line. Moody has all four points for Razorbacks up to this point.
17:18, 1H – Three blocks for Connor Vanover in the first three minutes. Great defensive start for him. Its long sequence of blocks continues. He now has at least one in 10 consecutive games.
18:35, 1H – South Carolina buries a three-point balance in an Arkansas turnaround. Gamecocks turns teams at a really high rate. Razorbacks have to be tougher on the ball. South Carolina leads 3-2.
19:18, 1H – Connor Vanover blocked a kick in the Gamecocks ‘first possession and then Moses Moody added a score on the Arkansas’ rebound.
Pre-game
Arkansas starting lineup: Jalen Tate, Moses Moody, Davonte Davis, Justin Smith and Connor Vanover.
Arkansas will not have striker Jaylin Williams tonight, Eric Musselman said on the Razorbacks’ pre-game radio show.
This group started each game since the beginning of February. He allowed 0.88 points for possession in 103 defensive possessions together, and scored a 1.03 PPP clip.
Moody was named the SEC’s freshman of the week on Monday for his move against Alabama and LSU. He got 27 out of 33 free throws in both games, but he got 6 out of 26 shots. Moody hit 6 out of 24 shots on the track last month and 3 out of 18 two-point shots off the track.
Smith has averaged 16 points and 8.5 rebounds in the last four games and is playing his best basketball. He led Arkansas in edge scores last month with 28. He made 32 out of 45 attempts on the track. Davis was the team’s second in that period with 19 points on the track – 16 on the edge.
Vanover ended on February 5, 10 with a three-point streak on the left and right sides. He made 2 out of 10 in January.
South Carolina Newbies: TJ Moss (6-4), AJ Lawson (6-6), Justin Minaya (6-6), Keyshawn Bryant (6-6) and Tre-Vaughn Minott (6-9).
Gamecocks (6-12, 4-10 SEC) play in the sixth fastest time in the country, with an average of less than 75 possessions per game. This could be a lot up and down in pace, and I think Arkansas is OK with that.
Lawson, who averaged 17.4 points per game, leads South Carolina by three points from SEC games with 45 out of 122 attempts. Jermaine Couisnard is second with 18 out of 63 attempts and adds 10.2 points per exit. Minaya achieves a maximum score of 6.8 rebounds per night.
In conference games, he defeated the opponent in 22.6% of his possessions, which occupies the first place in the league. However, South Carolina puts many teams on the free throw line. Opposing teams make more than four free throws for every 10 attempts of field goal.
Offensively, Gamecocks are the 12th in the SEC in offensive efficiency and the ninth in the defensive end. They also rank 10th or worse in the percentage of two and three points at both ends.
