No. 1 of 2022 South Carolina double threat QB cancellations

Gunner Stockton, the No. 1 double threat quarterback in the 2022 class, withdrew from the University of South Carolina.

Stockton, the native of Tiger, Georgia, of 1.80 m and 220 pounds, wants to reevaluate his options after a series of personnel changes with Gamecocks. The biggest one, which is probably Stockton’s reason for his withdrawal, is the dismissal of coach Will Muschamp earlier this season.

Stockton released his statement via his Twitter account on Tuesday.

Now, why is this so important for Georgia football?

Before Stockton’s commitment to South Carolina, his two main schools were South Carolina and Georgia. Stockton is from Georgia and may well decide to come and play ball for Kirby Smart in Athens.

The Dawgs quarterback room is a little narrow for the future, believe it or not. JT Daniels secured the spot this year and the highly sought after Brock Vandagriff will be arriving next year.

At the moment, 247 sports experts predict a 50/50 split between Stockton signing with Auburn or returning to South Carolina. UGA Wire will keep you up to date on all of Gunner Stockton’s news as this story unfolds.
