New Jersey is expecting snow – again.
The National Weather Service is forecasting snow throughout the northwestern part of the state on Monday morning, making it the fourth consecutive week that some part of the Garden State will have snow. With a week left in the month, it is already one of the most snowy Februarios ever seen.
This week’s storm appears to be much milder than previous events, one of which was monstrous 30 inches for some cities. As of Sunday morning, the NWS is forecasting between 2-3 inches in the Belvidere area and less than an inch in the Morristown area. New Brunswick, Toms River and Vineland are expected to see no build-up.
Any snow will turn to rain in the afternoon, the NWS said.
There are no weather alerts in effect on Sunday morning.
Monday’s blizzards will give way to exceptionally high temperatures on Wednesday, with sun and highs closer to what we usually see in late March, the NWS said.
On Saturday, the 29.1 inches of snow Newark obtained makes it the sixth most snowy February on record, while the 26.5 inches of New Brunswick makes it the fifth most snowy February.
The prolonged winter has caused headaches across the state, with public works teams working 24 hours a day to keep up with the storms and trying to anticipate the next one.
Constant snow also hampered vaccination efforts, with locals having to close early or reschedule entire days of consultations during bad weather. And bad weather across the country caused delays in vaccine shipments, causing even more delays in consultations.
