The next winter storm is expected to arrive in two waves – the first from Wednesday night until Thursday morning and the second from Thursday night until Friday morning, said Dean Iovino, a meteorologist at the National Service’s regional forecast office. Jersey Weather Report.

In the first wave of the storm on Wednesday night and early Thursday, the National Weather Service is forecasting 5 to 7 inches of snow in South Jersey, 1 to 3 inches of snow in Central Jersey and less than 2.5 cm in North Jersey.
There is some potential for mixed precipitation and some ice formation in the southern tip of New Jersey, especially near the coast, Iovino said.

In the second wave of the storm, mainly from Thursday night until early Friday, the weather service expects another 1-2 inches of snow in South Jersey and little, if any, snow in the northern half of the state, if current trends the forecast continues.
AccuWeather meteorologists are asking for similar snow accumulations during the duration of this storm: A total of 1 to 3 inches of snow in North Jersey and Central Jersey, and 3 to 6 inches of snow in South Jersey.
As soon as the storm system clears on Friday afternoon, all eyes will be focused on a potential coastal storm over the weekend.
“The weather and the track are very uncertain at the moment,” said Iovino, so the weather service is still unsure how much snow, if any, New Jersey will have this weekend.
Thanks to a big snowstorm the week before Christmas and the monstrous winter storm that fell 1 to 2 feet of snow over a large strip of our region, parts of northern and central New Jersey have already received more snow than usual. receive throughout the snow season – which technically runs from October to April.

The Newark area normally receives 9.3 inches of snow throughout the month, and its record is 33.4 inches, established in 1994.
