Nintendo Switch System update 12.0.0 is now available

Nintendo Switch

Although there were reports of a minor system update en route to the Switch last month, it appears that Nintendo has jumped straight into version 12.0.0.

If you’ve been waiting for things like folders, themes and several other interesting features, we’re sorry to say, but there’s none of that. Instead, this latest update fixes an issue linked to the backup feature of saving data.

Here is the full summary of the official patch notes, courtesy of the Nintendo website:

Ver. 12.0.0 (released April 5, 2021)

We have corrected the problem with the data saving backup feature, where, in rare cases, the automatic backup of saved data is interrupted if a communication error occurs during the completion of the data saving backup process.

As noted above, if this error was an issue for you – you can check this page for more information.

This update follows version 11.0.1, which was released in December last year and fixed a number of problems that occurred with version 11.0.0. Find out more about this in our previous post.
