Nintendo Switch surprises fans with the stealth launch of a classic 90s game

Nintendo and SNK surprised Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite players with a new stealth release. Two days before Christmas, and amid huge promotional sales from the Nintendo eShop, SNK launched Fatal Fury: First Contact for Switch and Switch Lite, through Nintendo eShop, and now, only through Nintendo eShop. In other words, the game on Switch and Switch Lite, at least currently, is not available in retail in any format.

As of today, all Nintendo Switch users can download the classic Neo Geo Pocket Color game that debuted in 1909 for just $ 8. As you may know, this is not the first Neo Geo game released on Switch and Switch Lite by SNK , and it probably won’t be the last, but it is the most recent.

In addition to $ 8, the entire game download will need 147 MB of available space. That said, on Switch, the game not only supports the three game forms – handheld, TV and table – but also supports up to two players. Unfortunately, however, language options are limited to English and Japanese only.

Below, you can check out a new SNK trailer released to accompany the stealth drop:

As you may know, Fatal Fury: First Contact it was the tenth and penultimate entry in the series that debuted through Neo Geo Pocket Color, but has since been ported to a myriad of platforms. One of the least popular entries in the series is more or less a portable version of Real Bout 2, or at least it is loosely based on the game that came before it a year earlier.
