It might not be a big surprise, given that apparently Switch owners are the most likely to own another console, but in 2020, the Nintendo Switch far surpassed Xbox and PlayStation in the UK. To like… very very.
It is tempting to see this as a huge success for Nintendo, and it is, but it is also a huge success for us – the people who play it. More than ever, consoles are moving away from the idea of ”rival” consoles and the idea that video games are for kids and nerds, with family games, fitness games and even games like Animal Crossing: New Horizons this apparently led some people to buy extra home switches. Of course, many Nintendo games are exclusive to Switch, and although Xbox and Sony have their fair share of exclusivity, it pales in comparison to Nintendo’s original offerings, only with the switch, which is probably the reason why many people seem own a Switch as another console.
With the addition of cheaper and portable Switch Lites for younger people and anyone who doesn’t bother to play on TV (and some predictions about adding a Switch Pro in 2021), the Nintendo Switch family is not as big as the Xbox or PlayStation, which makes your sales even more impressive. Of course, we’ll probably have to wait a little longer to find out more about Switch Pro … unless yesterday’s fake Nintendo Direct leak this weekend is true. (Will not.)
