Nintendo seems to have already closed the Super Mario Maker favorites site

When Mario’s 35th birthday ends next week, online services for Super Mario Maker on Wii U it also ends – meaning that players will no longer be able to upload their own courses.

As you may remember, the Super Mario Maker favorites site was closing on March 31, too. It seems that, instead, Nintendo shut down the web service ahead of schedule.

Super Mario Maker fan and Nintendo Life reader Nintendo_Thumb observes how the “website crashed 4 days earlier” and has been down since at least March 26th. The website says that the “service is currently unavailable” and now shows a 503 error.

So, if you expected to visit the site one last time before it closed, it looks like you it could be out of luck. Here is the full list of affected Super Mario Maker services:

Services that will end (Super Mario Maker – Wii U)

  • The ability to upload courses on Super Mario Maker for Wii U
  • Super Mario Maker favorites site
    Because of this, the following features within the Course World of the software will also be unavailable:
    • Updating the ranking of tanned courses
    • Searching for your favorite courses
