Nintendo Life eShop selects – March 2021 – feature

EShop Selects

Last month, we celebrated the fourth anniversary of the Switch on the market. It’s a small legal milestone, but despite being in the hands of consumers for a long time, the console’s approach to discovering the eShop still has a long way to go.

These awards aim to celebrate the best of Nintendo’s digital store, giving a little love and attention to games that could easily be lost in the Switch’s growing library.

So let’s start. Here are the best Switch eShop games from March 2021!

Honorable mentions:

Although these titles did not reach the top three of this month, it is certainly worth checking out:

Tales from the Frontier (Switch eShop)Tales from the Frontier (Switch eShop)

Editor: Take-Two Interactive / Developer: Take-Two Interactive

Release date of: March 23, 2021 (USA) / March 24, 2021 (UK / EU)

Third this month is Tales from the Borderlands, a game that we consider to be one of Telltale Games’ best efforts.

Switch owners have several choice-based narrative adventures to choose from today, but this is among the best. In our thorough review (the game got a 9/10 seriously strong from us), we described it as “ten glorious hours of top-notch entertainment, consistently excellent writing, nonstop action and a cast of crazy characters that are a joy to pass on the time. “

Do yourself a favor and check this out if you have any interest. This may well be the best the Borderlands universe has ever been.

Narita Boy (Switch eShop)Narita Boy (Switch eShop)

Editor: Team17 / Developer: Studio Koba

Release date of: March 30, 2021 (USA)

Jumping closely ahead of Tales of the Borderlands this month, however, is Narita Boy. A wonderful Metroidvania published by Team17, Narita Boy pays homage to the culture of the 80s and, most importantly, get it right.

In our review, we praised the game’s beautiful handcrafted visuals, exceptional combat mechanics, varied enemy designs and great music, all put together in a package that is definitely worth your time. If you’re looking for the next taste of Metroidvania action, here it is.

Everhood (Switch eShop)Everhood (Switch eShop)

Editor: Foreign Gnomes / Developer: Foreign Gnomes

Release date of: March 4, 2021 (USA) / 2021 (UK / EU)

Just coming in first place this month (the votes were the closest that have been for some time), is Everhood.

Everhood is a crazy mix of RPG, rhythmic action, go-kart racing and bullet-hell shmup-style gameplay, and if that doesn’t at least make you a little intrigued, we don’t know what will leave you. We describe Everhood as “one of the most memorable games we’ve played in recent years”, with its storyline and crazy characters, but with instantly accessible gameplay, providing a great game.

This is the most suitable type of game for those looking for something different which, let’s face it, is exactly what the indie scene is about. Try it – you won’t regret it!

As we decided our eShop selects the main three: As we reach the end of each month, the Nintendo Life team votes on their favorite titles from a list of games selected by the editorial team. To qualify for this list, these games must have been released as a digital Nintendo Switch eShop title in that specific month, and must have been analyzed on Nintendo Life; we select the qualifying games based on their review scores.

The team is then asked to vote for three games that they think deserve to be at the top of the list; the first choice earns 3 points, the second choice 2 points and the third choice 1 point. These votes are then counted to create a list of the top three, with the overall winner taking the top prize for that month.
