With a new year, new Switch games arrive, and while January is traditionally a quiet month for new releases, there were still some absolute crackers to enjoy this time around.
These awards aim to celebrate the best of Nintendo’s digital store, giving a little love and attention to games that could easily go unnoticed in the Switch’s growing library.
So let’s start. Here are the best Switch eShop games from January 2021!

Although these titles did not reach the top three this month, it is certainly worth checking out.

In third place this month is Hitman 3 – Cloud Version, an imperfect but more than functional version of the latest IO Interactive release. Streaming will never really be the ideal solution when it comes to games – you’ll need an especially solid Internet connection to enjoy it – but for Switch owners who don’t have access to another system, this version at least offers a welcome option .
As for the game itself, we describe it as “a suitable farewell to one of the game’s great protagonists”, granting the Switch version an 8/10. If you have the necessary Internet connection, it is certainly worth a try.

Second is Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game – Complete Edition – and no, we don’t let Zion vote for this one 300 times as he asked us to, we promise.
Another fantastic beat ’em up to enjoy on your Switch, this latest release from Scott Pilgrim presents the bombastic presentation and crunchy combat gameplay we’ve all been waiting for. There are some peaks of difficulty that hinder the procedures a little, but it is still easy to recommend and that has surprised the NL team in recent weeks.

Speaking of winning the team, first we have Cyber Shadow – a game that topped our voting ranking by one mile this month.
From the Mechanical Head and Yacht Club games, Cyber Shadow is an absolute must for fans of retro action platform games. Featuring well-built levels, authentic presentation, strict controls and a high but pleasant difficulty, the game is a supreme and focused experience that we can easily say is worth your time.
If you have the budget to buy another game from last month, definitely consider this one.
As we decided our eShop selects the three main ones: As we reach the end of each month, the Nintendo Life team votes for their favorite titles in a list of games selected by the editorial team. To qualify for this list, these games must have been released as a Nintendo Switch eShop digital title in that specific month, and must have been analyzed on Nintendo Life; we select the qualifying games based on their analysis scores The team is then asked to vote for three games that they think deserve to be high on the list; the first choice earns 3 points, the second choice 2 points and the third choice 1 point. These votes are then counted to create a list of the top three, with the overall winner taking that month’s top prize.
