Nintendo is sharing more information about the amiibo functionality of its Power-up Band theme park

As proven in the recent Direct, you can use them with the Switch

Recently, Nintendo shared more information about the Super Nintendo World through a physical walking tour with Mario’s father: Shigeru Miyamoto. It was fantastic! Go watch.

Back? Well, you may have noticed that at some point in the video, Nintendo sparked the Power-Up Bands (which are basically a form of Magic Bands in Disney parks) and some form of Switch functionality. Well, thanks to a new landing site, we now know a little more about how this is going to work.

According to the website, amiibo will correspond to the character of the band itself. Therefore, the red band above with the red “M” for Mario will become a “Mario amiibo”. Other bands combine with Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Toad and Yoshi. The bands are used directly with the Switch NFC point on the Joy-Con or the Pro Controller, but “are not compatible with 3DS or Wii U.”

Of course, the bands will also function in the park as a kind of scoring mechanism, which interacts with various “activities”. I wonder how they will fare in the American version of the park with long lines.
