Nintendo Executive Blocked Remake of GoldenEye 007, says former Rare Dev

It was a historic moment in video game history last week, when Rare canceled the remake / remaster of XBLA GoldenEye 007 leaked on the internet. The game that no one thought would see the light of day was actually released.

After that, discussions immediately surfaced about the license and the parties for and against the game’s release. At the time, we heard that Nintendo was not to blame, but it may have contributed to it.

Now, in a small update, former Rare artist Ross Bury shared some extra insights with Ars Technica, revealing how the game was approved by everyone at Nintendo – or so they thought until a company executive (who remains unknown) ) closed the project when it was finished.

“When it was introduced to Nintendo, everyone approved, except that they didn’t check with the only guy who mattered … I believe they told me that their response was more or less: ‘There’s no way a Nintendo game can be released on a Microsoft console. . “

Bury adds how “executive orders overcame everything,” which is believed to have included handling MGM and OEM Bond video games at the time, according to Ars Technica.

Remember that this is just an account of what happened, there is still the possibility that the whole situation has not helped by MGM and company. In 2016, Xbox boss Phil Spencer, said GoldenEye 007 “has always been a matter of rights” and not anything else.
