Nintendo eShop Down, apparently due to the Monster Hunter Rise demo demand [Updated]

Nintendo confirmed that the outage was over and IGN was able to access the Nintendo eShop (and download the Monster Hunter demo). The Nintendo eShop is currently down for unscheduled “emergency maintenance”, which may be due to the demand for the Monster Hunter Rise demo launched.

The eShop was down for at least 4 hours at the time of writing, with Japanese Nintendo customer support account on Twitter apologizing repeatedly for the problems, but not offering a deadline to correct them.

Although neither Nintendo nor Capcom commented specifically on the connection, the interruption coincides with the launch of the Monster Hunter Rise demo, which includes two missions and two tutorials for the next exclusive Switch.Yesterday’s Monster Hunter live broadcast revealed a number of new monsters and details about the game, including the fact that a new skill will allow you to ride monsters (a skill you can test on the demo).

The demo weighs 1.6 GB and missions can be played a maximum of 30 times before the closing date on February 1. If you are unable to download, we have videos of the Greater Izuchi mission and the Mizutsune mission for you to check out.

If you are interested in buying the game before it arrives on March 26th, here is what comes with each edition of Monster Hunter Rise.
