Nintendo DS Platformer Monster Tale is back on modern consoles

Monster Tale

Majesco Entertainment has announced that it will offer the platform game Monster Tale a new version of the current hardware.

Currently only proven for “modern gaming platforms” – although you imagine that Switch is a safe bet with the original being a Nintendo exclusive – Monster Tale will be relaunched later this year. Game fans will no doubt remember its half-platform and half-pet gameplay, starring the human-monster duo of Ellie and Chomp, a duo tasked with ridding Monster World of the evil Kid-Kings.

It first appeared on the DS in 2011, with an eventual 3DS version set to be called Monster Tale Ultimate also being announced a few years later. That game unfortunately never arrived, so maybe this new release will finally give fans the ‘Ultimate’ game they’ve been waiting for.

Players at Monster Tale experience a perfect blend of classic puzzle gameplay styles from platform puzzles, Metroidvania and pet management as they seek to rid the fantastic Monster World of the evil Kid-Kings. Working together, Ellie and Chomp must learn new skills to return the world to the hands of monsters and help Ellie return home.

Monster Tale presents a beautifully crafted world of 2D pixel art that resembles classic 90s titles. As players explore the world as Ellie, they will unlock new skills for her to use to overcome the obstacles she faces. They will also help train your fellow monster Chomp so that he can evolve and help Ellie on her adventures.

We will keep an eye out for more news as we progress through the year, but feel free to let us know if you played or not with a comment below. Are you waiting for this new release to arrive on the Switch?
