Nintendo announces February online titles NES and SNES Switch

Nintendo has just announced the next set of retro games on the Nintendo Switch Online service – stay up to date with all the news here.

Launching on February 17 as part of Nintendo’s monthly subscription service, players will soon be able to download SNES titles Doomsday Warrior, Psychotic dream, Prehistorik Man and the NES title Fire ‘n Ice.

Doomsday Warrior challenges players to save Earth from a menacing squad of superhuman fighters in an early 1990s SNES fighting game. Inside Psychotic dream, you can take control of Ryō or Maria in a time-limited battle against a horde of monsters set in 20th century Japan.

The platform game Prehistorik Man allows players to travel through the Stone Age as Sam, the caveman, tasked with returning stolen food from his village.

The only NES title this month, Fire ‘n Ice (also known as Solomon’s Key 2), is a puzzle game in which players must extinguish the flames by kicking or throwing blocks of ice on them.

The launch of the Psychotic dream, originally called Dream Probe and launched in the United States, was originally canceled and has remained a Japanese exclusive until now. Although the reviews were initially mixed, their focus on getting ahead of the game as quickly as possible can affect speedrunners.

The four games will be released alongside the growing library of NES and SNES games, which players have access to through the Nintendo Switch Online Service. The library features names like Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Metroid and Star Fox.

The Nintendo Switch Online service also includes the ability to voice chat and save in the cloud, allowing players to back up their saves in the cloud if the Nintendo Switch is interrupted.

Nintendo recently announced a collaboration with Burger King, which will see the launch of six free Nintendo-themed toys included as part of kids and Super Mario meals.
