Nikki Haley warned on Wednesday that illegal immigration is reaching “crisis levels” in the wake of a series of Trump-era policy reversals by President Joe Biden – with the former UN ambassador arguing that the United States needs to take care of ” Americans first. “
“Biden has reinstated Obama’s capture and release policy, freeing illegal immigrants back to the United States. Illegal immigration has reached crisis levels, overloading the Border Patrol facilities and maximizing community resources, like the COVID tests,” he said. Haley. “We must take care of our Americans first.”
CBP OF THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION RECOVERS ‘CAPTURE AND RELEASE’ POLICY ON THE BORDER AMONG COVERS CONCERNS
Last week, President Biden signed executive orders related to immigration, which included revoking the order of then President Trump, ending the so-called “catch and release” policy.
He also signed immigration orders that end the construction of the wall on the southern border, end the Trump-era travel bans and order a review of the Protective Migrant Protocols (MPP). His government also sought to impose a 100-day break on deportations.
This coincides with a sudden increase in the border that is forcing the agency in parts of Texas to release immigrants to the United States for the first time since 2019.
Customs and Border Protection told Fox News that three factors led to the decision to release families of illegal immigrants: an increase in migrant trafficking, specifically Central American families and unaccompanied children; Mexico’s refusal to accept additional families with children under the age of 12 in areas where migrant camps are increasingly growing, overloading shelter and services; and COVID-19, which severely reduced Border Patrol detention and transportation capacity.
The United States also said it would add 700 beds for unaccompanied minors to a shelter in Carizzo Springs, Texas, along with an additional 500 beds at a processing facility in Donna, Texas.

Republicans are warning about the crisis. More than 50 Republicans wrote to Biden on Thursday, saying local sources told them that Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents saw the average daily flow of migrants across the border increase to more than 3,500 a day, from 2,000 in the last month.
Haley also criticized Biden for his position on illegal immigration, recently accusing him of “spending more money protecting the Capitol from Americans than protecting the borders of illegal immigrants”.
