Nicola Coughlan Bridgerton Easter Egg on Twitter

At this point, I hope you have had the good sense to consume the glory that is Bridgertonbut if you haven’t seen it you better get away now because there are important spoilers below !!

Okay, so recently, Nicola Coughlan – also known as Penelope Featherington – tweeted that she included a sizable Easter egg in the first episode of the series.

Okay, I’m just curious, did anyone see the huge Easter egg over Penelope in Bridgerton’s first scene?

Now, as someone who has read all the books and consumed the series more than once, I like to think of myself as a resident of BuzzFeed Bridgerton specialist. But, dear reader, I didn’t even notice this hidden gem.

As fans began to hypothesize their responses, Nicola responded to a particular tweet and OMG:

I immediately went on Netflix and found out the first moment that Penelope is on screen on the show’s pilot and, well, see for yourself.

Should I zoom in?

Yea! A giant feather with feathers. (Feathered … Featheringtons, teehee.)

Anyone who has seen the final episode of Season 1 knows that Penelope has been revealed as Lady Whistledown, so a feather is an extremely appropriate symbol, if I may say so.

And obviously, Nicola thought so too. “I decided on a prop for the scene where you see Penelope for the first time, this prop happened to be a giant feather that looked very … a feather feather,” she shared on twitter.

After dropping that golden chicken Easter egg, Nicola shared another treat:

If you watch it again, there are lots of little tips there, let me know if you find any more and I can confirm / deny 💛

Most?!?! Okay, coolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcoolcool, I think I have to watch it again for the fourth time (I say as if I’m not going to do just that).

^ Filming my live one hour before receiving that (frankly, rude) message “You are still watching”.

Have you seen any easter eggs or noticed a clue on a second watch? Share in the comments!
