Nickelodeon Orders, Animated Comedy Series ‘Transformers’ – Deadline

A reimagined Transformers the animated series is coming to Nickelodeon. Nick and Hasbro’s Entertainment One teamed up to co-produce an original cartoon Transformers series, based on the iconic global property.

In the action comedy series, a new kind of Transformers must find its place and purpose among Autobots, Decepticons and the human family that adopts them. The 26-episode half-hour series will debut exclusively on Nickelodeon in the United States before being released internationally.

“As soon as I read the creative concept, which is essentially about family, I knew we had to tell this story with our good friends at eOne and Hasbro,” said Ramsey Naito, president of Nickelodeon Animation. “The series will tell a story reinvented with original characters and fan favorites for a whole new generation of children and families. Nick’s creative team, overseen by Claudia Spinelli, senior vice president of animation development, can’t wait to start building this new world. “

Netflix to reimagine Transformers and My Little Pony for two animated series

Hasbro released Transformers in 1984 as a line of toys and animated series. Its success led to an animated film in 1986, many future toy lines and a series of live action films. Cartoon Network debuted Transformers: animatedin 2007, an animated series that aired for three seasons.

The series is executive produced by Ant Ward (Rise of teenage mutant ninja turtles), and Nicole Dubuc (Transformers: Rescue Bots) and developed and co-produced by Dale Malinowski (Rise of teenage mutant ninja turtles). Produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio, the series is developed for television by Spinelli and Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt, senior director of Current Series and Animation Development. The production will be supervised for Nickelodeon by Conrad Montgomery, vice president, Current Series, Animation and for eOne by Mikiel Houser, Director of TV Development.
