As was the case last year, Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards 2021 it was a remote ceremony, boasting great talent, stellar musical performances and much of the network’s characteristic sludge.
Hosted by Saturday Night Live cast member and former Nickelodeon student Keenan Thompson (Kenan, All this), the broadcast in honor of children’s favorite TV shows, movies and games was remarkable, given the return of several winners in recent years.
Some of the night’s top prizes went to Wonder Woman 1984 (Favorite movie), Alexa and Katie (Favorite children’s TV show), Weird stuff (Family favorite TV show) Robert Downey Jr. (favorite movie actor) and Millie Bobbie Brown (favorite female TV star, favorite movie actress). While Weird stuff triumphed in the same category last year, Brown had already claimed the Female TV Star award.

On the music side, the main prizes went to Ariana Grande (Favorite Female Artist) and Justin Bieber (Favorite Male Artist), who together won the Favorite Musical Collaboration award. Also winning twice – in the Favorite Music Group and Favorite Global Music Star categories – was the South Korean boy band BTS.
Beginning at 7:30 ET, this year’s KCAs were broadcast simultaneously by Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nicktoons and Nick Jr. The program featured special comments from Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, as part of the annual Generation Change presentation , highlighting the power that children have to positively shape the future of the world. Later, Icarly cast members Miranda Cosgrove, Jerry Trainor and Nathan Kress came together to present the Favorite Movie award.
Other notable appearances at the ceremony were made by Brown, BTS, Gal Gadot, Addison Rae, Sofía Vergara, David Dobrik, Tiffany Haddish, Anna Kendrick, Dove Cameron, Heidi Klum, Terry Crews, Dixie D’Amelio, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Joshua Bassett, Anthony Anderson, Dani & Dannah Lane and Iain Armitage. The Nickelodeon stars they passed through included JoJo Siwa, That Girl Lay Lay, Jules LeBlanc, Jayden Bartels, Gabrielle Nevaeh Green, Darci Lynne and Young Dylan.
Completing the show was the Grammy winner Bieber, who joined rapper Quavo to make his chart top “Intentions”, as well as a medley of two recent singles, “Hold On” and “Anyone”.
