After a successful beta version, the third-party home screen replacement app, Niagara Launcher, launched on the Stable channel early last month. However, the app’s developers did not include any new features in the first stable release to ensure a smooth transition. To make up for the lack of new features, developers are launching Niagara Launcher v1.1, which includes an updated weather widget, new animations and more.
According to a recent post on the latest Niagara Launcher update, the redesigned weather widget supports 30-minute rain and snow forecast, shorter update intervals of 30 to 60 minutes, a longer forecast interval of 8 days and other subtle adjustments. The new 30-minute rain forecast feature is compatible with most regions except Africa, and provides detailed forecast data to help you avoid getting stuck in rain or snow.

Shorter update intervals, on the other hand, update the forecast dynamically every 30 to 60 minutes based on current weather conditions to increase accuracy. Despite the shorter update interval, the Niagara Launcher never takes the phone out of standby and has no significant impact on the phone’s battery. The longer forecast interval allows you to check the weather forecast for the next seven days and the hourly forecast now also includes weather conditions for the next day.

In addition, the Niagara Launcher weather widget now shows sunrise and sunset timers in the hourly weather forecast, includes daily weather descriptions and additional icons for more accurate forecasting and has a new option to automatically choose one fixed location for more accurate results.
New app closing animations
Along with the updated weather widget, Niagara Launcher v1.1 brings new animations from nearby apps, a battery charge indicator, a new widget settings sheet and a transparent screen capture feature that allows you to take screenshots of the initiator without the wallpaper.
