NFL rumors: Eagles legend reveals Colts swap offer for quarterback Carson Wentz

The Indianapolis Colts offered the Eagles – at least – two draft options for quarterback Carson Wentz, according to Philadelphia legend Ron Jaworski.

When talking to Jeff Skversky from 6ABC on Thursday, Jaworski said the Colts had made the best bid for Wentz so far. This offer, according to Jaworski, is two second-round choices “and perhaps a third or fourth (round choice) in the future”.

This offer is far from what Eagles GM Howie Roseman has been looking for in the trade market. As reported by NJ Advance Media, Roseman’s initial goal was a return to Matthew Stafford’s style for Wentz.

Last month, the Detroit Lions sent Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for Rams’ first round draft picks in 2022 and 2023, a third round pick in 2021 and quarterback Jared Goff.

As NJAM reported on Tuesday, the Colts asked for additional compensation – a player, players or picks – along with Wentz to approach the demands of the eagles, according to a person with knowledge of the negotiations, who obtained anonymity. That person said that another undisclosed Eagles player was mentioned.

There is also a sense that the Chicago Bears – another stakeholder – are becoming impatient, another person with knowledge of the commercial market told NJAM. According to the person, the Bears believe that the eagles overestimated Wentz.

Wentz is likely to be the next major defender to switch teams. While other quarterbacks, like Sam Darnold of the Jets and Marcus Mariota of the Las Vegas Raiders, could be switched, Wentz is the most likely to be moved.

If Darnold, Mariota or another defender were traded to Indianapolis or Chicago, however, the Eagles would lose their advantage.

At the moment, the Eagles have at least two teams interested in Wentz. If that number drops, the Eagles may need to accept the offer from the remaining team or deal with an embarrassing situation when the training ground is opened.
