NFL rumors: 49ers agree with Mohamed Sanu, Nate Gerry’s terms

49ers have not yet been made at a free agency, such as team agreed to the terms with wide receiver Mohamed Sanu, his agent Mike McCartney revealed on Saturday. San Francisco also agreed with former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Nate Gerry on Saturday, said John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia, citing a league source.

Sanu spent a few weeks with the 49ers at the start of the 2020 season, when injuries wiped out the team’s receiving body. He played three games for the 49ers, hitting his only target in a nine-yard reception.

After being released by the 49ers, Sanu signed with the Detroit Lions training team and ended up playing seven games for the team, getting 16 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown.

Throughout his nine seasons in the NFL, Sanu has 420 receptions for 4,694 reception yards and 27 touchdowns. He is expected to provide veteran leadership to promising recipients Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel.

Gerry played four seasons in Philadelphia after being picked in the fifth round of the draft in 2017. A hybrid linebacker / safety, Gerry played in 46 games and started in 22 for the Eagles.

He played only seven games in 2020 before an ankle injury before ending his season on the reserve due to injuries.

Gerry’s numbers suffered a significant drop from 2019 to 2020, as he had the lowest passer rating when targeting any qualified linebacker last season, according to Pro Football Focus.

The Nebraska product visited with the 49ers earlier this week, and at just 26 years old, will have a chance to change its reputation under the new defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans.
