NFL Draft 2021: Dave Gettleman uses pick # 11 to get help for Daniel Jones in ESPN’s latest simulated projections from Todd McShay

For the fourth consecutive year, New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman is among the top 15 in the NFL Draft.

And for the fourth year in a row, Gettleman will use it to add an offensive piece to the puzzle. This is according to ESPN’s Todd McShay, who released his last draft of the first round on Wednesday.

McShay made the Giants choose Kyle Pitts, Florida’s tight end, in 11th place.

With the first three wide receivers and the first two cornerbacks off the board, filling those needs would mean significant reach for the Giants here. The offensive line may be at stake, as well as the edge rush. But if Pitts is still in 11th position, it would be very difficult for New York to do anything but add the 6-6 fast and versatile showdown nightmare. Giants Tight End Evan Engram lost 14 games in four years and is a free agent after the next season. In the meantime, the Giants can enjoy a fantastic pair at the tight end – Pitts is versatile enough to play with Engram and be moved by the formation – and provide the quarterback Daniel Jones with an ace.

In his simulation, McShay has wide receiver LSU Ja’Marr Chase heading to the Philadelphia Eagles at No. 6, wide receiver Alabama DeVonta Smith heading to Detroit Lions at No. 7 and Crimson teammate Tide Jaylen Waddle heading for the Miami Dolphins at No. 8.

Pitts would join running back Saquon Barkley (No. 2 in 2018), quarterback Daniel Jones (No. 6 in 2019) and striker Andrew Thomas (No. 4 in 2020) in the Giants’ attack.
