NFL commercial rumors: Eagles argued about Brandon Brooks

The Philadelphia Eagles appear to be open to move the right owner of the Pro Bowl three times, Brandon Brooks. NFL insider Albert Breer reports that Brooks’ name came up in commercial discussions during this off-season.

Breer specifically mentioned Brooks among the players of the “more limited teams” who will seek to “get value back for some high-profile, well-paid players”.

The impetus to negotiate with Brooks may stem from the Eagles’ discomfort in restructuring their current business. And the Eagles may be cautious about taking this approach with a player who has completed 32 years old this year and has suffered three serious injuries (two Achilles lacerations, a separate shoulder) since January 2019.

Again, the Eagles don’t have to sell Brooks at any price. This is not exactly like the Zach Ertz situation. Howie Roseman may be assessing the market in Brooks to see if he can get a better-than-expected price. The assumption here is that Brooks will still be Philly’s titular right guard in 2021. But that result may be less likely than previously thought.
