Newsmax host Greg Kelly had a hard time dealing with Joe Biden officially becoming president on Wednesday. So much so that he essentially wanted America’s failure.
Throughout President Biden’s inauguration day, the right-wing media struggled to cope with the end of Donald Trump’s presidency. After praising Trump’s “graceful” departure from the White House – Trump skipped possession after inciting an insurrectionary riot – One America News, for example, virtually ignored Biden’s oath.
Newsmax, in turn, chose a different path. In addition to effusively praising the outgoing president, they painted Biden’s widely praised inaugural speech, which focused on the unity and repair of the nation, as “dark” and “divisive”. And in prime time, they followed the lead of competitor Fox News in ignoring Biden’s inaugural “Celebrating America” show.
It was here that Kelly came into action.
The ex-Fox News personality, who helped Newsmax attract disgruntled Trump supporters by happily selling the election denial, began its program on Wednesday night openly hoping that Biden would not succeed as president.
“What do you think of Joe Biden? He’s the president of the United States, ”grumbled Kelly. “Okay, ladies and gentlemen, to say that you don’t wish the president success.”
Ensuring that his viewers knew that he wished Biden “no harm” and, after a brief pause, he “wants him to be healthy and happy in his life,” Kelly explained why he wanted the new president to fail.
“I wish Joe Biden no success,” he said, adding that he did not want Biden to enter the Paris Climate Agreement or nuclear agreements with Iran.
“So, it’s normal to say that you don’t want to see Joe Biden’s success,” Kelly continued with her justification. “Remember, he is the head of the executive branch. OK? And we have three branches and they are all the same. Fair? Fair.”
Kelly, at least, is now recognizing that Biden is the president, which is a big step forward for host Trumpian. Even after his network – which initially refused to acknowledge Biden’s victory in the election – finally admitted that Biden was president-elect after the December 14 Electoral College vote, Kelly continued to hope.
In addition to repeatedly saying that he did not “feel personally” that Biden was the elected president, Kelly continued to convince himself (and his audience) that “it is not over” and that the president’s futile lawsuits could nullify Biden’s decisive victory, even telling Trump not to give in. the seditious riots.
