“There were irregularities in this election,” said Senator Hawley. “There was fraud. No one disputes that.”
Republican objections would force Congress to vote on certification.
Herrell’s campaign said the congresswoman would “object in order to clarify the numerous cases of irregularities and illegal procedures used by various state governments during the election”.
The campaign said it was opposing it because “millions of Americans feel that this election was not conducted with integrity and fairness”.
The allegations of electoral fraud were unsuccessful in court.
The New Mexico Democratic Party president criticized Herrell’s position, saying “it is grossly irresponsible that a new congresswoman is spreading dangerous misinformation.”
NBC News reports that majority lead senator Mitch McConnell is telling his Republican colleagues in particular not to question the election results because it could hurt Republican lawmakers who do not vote against the election.
Some moderate Republicans said they would not support the effort.

The effort to reverse election results is not expected to be successful.
