Newest carmaker in the world, finally closed

It is finally a deal closed more than a year after Fiat Chrysler and PSA Groupe announced plans for a 50-50 merger. The automakers released a press release announcing the creation of Stellantis over the weekend, and is now the fourth largest automaker in the world. “The merger between Peugeot SA and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV that will lead the way in creating Stellantis NV has become effective today,” the two automakers said in a statement.

The FCA brands, including Jeep, Ram, Dodge, Fiat and Chrysler, are now under the same umbrella as Peugeot, Citroen and Opel. Altogether, Stellantis consists of 14 brands, although Chrysler’s future remains uncertain. Stellantis’ common shares will begin trading on Euronext in Paris and Mercato Telematico Azionario in Milan, Italy on Monday, and on the New York Stock Exchange on Tuesday. FCA officially no longer exists.
