Newbie card Tom Brady sold for a record $ 1.32 million

A Tom Brady rookie card was sold for a record $ 1.32 million on Thursday at the PWCC Marketplace, an online auction house and card repository.

The autographed ticket for the 2000 Playoff Contenders championship was rated eight with a score of 10 on the signature. It was bought by James Park, a well-known letter collector and famous fan of Brady.

“I lived in Boston for 10 years and I’m a huge fan of Brady,” said Park in comments posted on the PWCC Marketplace Instagram account. “I also love collecting cards since I was a child. Given Brady’s undisputed status as GOAT in football, this card is an important piece in the history of the sport and of any collection.”

The $ 1.32 million price is believed to be the highest price paid for a football card, surpassing the previous record by almost $ 500,000. As the card market continues to rise in interest and value, this sale outpaced a recent Patrick Mahomes card, which sold for $ 861,000 in early February.

The autographed Mahomes card from the 2017 National Treasures received a score of nine and was one of only five on that specific card. This sale broke the previous record, which was held by another Brady card, which sold for $ 555,988 in January.

This latest record may be short-lived, given the way the industry is doing, and considering that a similar card is already being sold at the Lelands auction house. The same Brady card is up for auction, but is valued at 8.5 with the subscription valued at nine.

The Lelands card currently has a bid of $ 707,565 with 29 days remaining in the lot.
