Dubbed the ‘Holy Grail’ of Brady’s rookie cards, it shows the rookie quarterback in his Patriots uniform, flanked by a simulated ticket stub detailing basic Michigan product information. Friday’s card is number 99 out of 100 already printed.
“This card was purchased on eBay more than a decade ago and has been stored in a private collection ever since,” wrote the auction house in a description of the novice Brady card.
The record sale is proof of the rising market in the card and sports memorabilia industry since last year. Given the current Super Bowl, the Most Valuable Player is still competing well at the highest level and will continue to add a legendary career in the years to come in Tampa, perhaps this is not the last time a Brady rookie card breaks the record again.
