Long Islanders with underlying health problems can apply to be vaccinated on Sunday.
The “Am I eligible?” The screening tool has been updated and those with pre-existing illnesses and comorbidities can apply to be vaccinated at centers distributed in Nassau and Suffolk counties.
The new appointments will be announced on an ongoing basis.
Eligibility applies to diseases such as cancer, obesity, heart and neurological diseases, pregnancy and more.
Those who apply must provide proof of their condition in the form of a medical letter, medical evidence of a comorbidity or a signed certificate.
With limited availability, Patchogue resident Richard Parker says it takes a lot of work to make an appointment to vaccinate.
“It was a little test this morning,” Parker. “We had four phones and two computers connected, and we finally made it. Personally, I feel a little more relieved to be getting the vaccine now and to have an underlying disease. I feel a little more confident, a little more secure. ”
News 12 is hearing reports that the state’s website was overloaded on Sunday.
Local health departments are expected to receive vaccine distributions for people with pre-existing illnesses.
