Sports Illustrated | Max Goodman: One of the Yankees’ biggest contenders has been drawing attention for a few days at camp. Austin Wells, the choice of last year’s first round, impressed Aaron Boone with his dexterity and strength. Boone called Wells “as strong as anyone at camp” and “a guy (who) loves to hit”. His position on the field has yet to be determined, but Wells’ club should have a good Yankees profile in a few years.
Sports Illustrated | Max Goodman: Jameson Taillon is not only a great pitcher who will fill a gap for the Yankees, but he is a fighter and has an excellent pitcher mind. Taillon texted his family with a picture of his striped uniform before putting them on for the first time and said the exchange for the Yankees “lit a new fire” under him. A sports student and close friend of Gerrit Cole, Taillon is ready for his new challenge with the Yankees.
New York Post | Ken Davidoff: The Yankees already have DJ “The Machine” LeMahieu. Now, they have two machines with the addition of Corey “Klubot” Kluber. True to his robotic nature, Kluber really has no opinion of the popular nickname, but is ready to start racing in New York. Their pitch coach and manager offered their perspective on Kluber’s personality, as well as how they think the two-time Cy Young Prize winner will help the team in 2021.
NJ.com | Randy Miller: After a successful debut with the Yankees last year, Deivi García has a new perspective when entering a competitive field in the big league. García is in a competition with Domingo Germán and Clarke Schmidt for the fifth wave of the Yankees, behind Cole, Kluber , Taillon and Jordan Montgomery.
