The nor’easter will follow the coldest air mass of the season, which is bringing unique, sub-zero digital chills to the region.
A Winter Storm Watch was issued late Sunday night through Monday night for much of the three state area. Strong winds are possible for the city and the coast, as well as coastal flooding. Snow may continue to fall until Tuesday morning.
Channel 7 meteorologist Amy Freeze says there is a 40% chance that the city’s total snowfall will be in the 6-10 inch zone by the end of the storm.
The long duration of the storm will make the snow messy and not very well compacted.
In central and southern Jersey, residents should expect to be hit harder, with a chance of more than 25 centimeters.

Lesser amounts of snow will be seen to the north and west of the city.
Gale and storm conditions are possible in the waters from Sunday night until Monday night.
Watch out for strong gusts in the city and on the coast as the winds increase to 40-50 mph from Monday to Monday night.
Coastal flood surveillance is in place on Long Island and southern Queens from Monday to Monday night.
