New York climate: big winter storm to bring snow and wind to Tri-State from Sunday night

NEW YORK (WABC) – A large, long-term winter storm is scheduled to impact the Three States area from Sunday evening and extend until early Tuesday.

Parts of the area will catch 6 “-12” of snow in this northeast, even in New York City, and more than 12 inches is not out of the question.

In the meantime, Saturday night will be clear to partly cloudy and cold, as the minimums decrease for teenagers.

Sunday will be cold with clouds getting bigger and thicker, since the maxims are in the 20s.

The snow will last until Sunday night, arriving from the southwest to the northeast and accumulating 1 “-3” during the night, while the breeze remains.

The roads will become snowy and slippery as temperatures drop to almost 20 degrees.

Monday will be cloudy and windy with periods of snow, the strongest of which is expected to occur during the afternoon and night.

Snow can sometimes mix, especially on the coast, maintaining accumulations to the south and east of New York City.

Wind gusts of 40-50 miles per hour are possible, mainly on the coast and on Long Island.

Temperatures can rise just above the freezing mark in the city.

The storm will go away slowly on Tuesday, but it will still be stormy and cold with persistent blows of snow and gusts of snow.

Additional significant accumulation is not likely during Tuesday’s day, but flakes will still be flying at times.
