New Windows Insider Dev Build brings new Explorer icons, more

Microsoft is finally starting to show us some tips on the visual changes that will occur in the next major version of Windows 10. Today, we see new icons and colors coming to File Explorer, as well as some improvements in Windows Sandbox and Microsoft Defender Application Guard ( MDAG).

The changes can be seen in Windows 10 Insider Preview build 21343, which is now available on the Dev channel. They are:

Improvements in File Explorer. Microsoft’s venerable File Explorer – which literally dates back to 1995 and Windows 95 – is getting new, more colorful icons in its user interface. And in a nod to the kind of things I expected to see in Windows 10 version 21H2, these new icons “were made for greater consistency in Microsoft products that show files”. The icons for top-level user folders, such as the Desktop, Documents, Downloads and Images, all have new designs and even the Recycle Bin icon has been updated.

Improvements in Windows Sandbox and Microsoft Defender Application Guard (MDAG). Windows Sandbox and Microsoft Defender Application Guard take advantage of the container technology that is built into Windows 10 and, so far, the runtime of the container matches that of the host operating system. starting with build 21343, Microsoft is introducing a new lightweight and faster runtime designed and optimized for container scenarios. This will offer better performance, but it should not affect compatibility, says Microsoft.
