Today’s big downfall was the debut trailer for Zack Snyder’s Justice League which, fortunately for weekend publishers everywhere, came just after 10am ET. It comes to HBO Max March 18.
Last weekend, during the Super Bowl, we received a new trailer for the next Disney Plus series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which opens on March 19. Here it is, in case you missed it (which, it is possible that someone else did):
There are, however, some non-superhero shows and movies on the horizon, in case you need to breathe a little from the DC / Marvel / Disney universes (I mean, I think that’s also possible). Here’s what we have.
Nomadland
Frances McDormand is Fern, a homeless – not homeless, she insists – woman who leaves her Nevada home after her husband dies, living in her van and traveling west. Apparently, many of the people Fern meets along the way are not actors, but nomads in good faith, which almost makes it look like you’re watching a trailer (the second in this film) of a documentary. David Strathairn also stars in Nomadland, which was written and directed by Chloe Zhao, and is based on Jessica Bruder’s book. This comes to Hulu on February 19th.
Old
This is another trailer that appeared during Super Bowl: M. Night Shyamalan’s Old, about a family that is vacationing on a beach and that suddenly begins to age quickly. The trailer is very, very scary, according to the best Shyamalan tradition, and the film was adapted from a graphic science fiction novel sand castle, by Pierre Oscar Levy and Frederik Peeters. It has quite a cast: Gael Garcia Bernal, Eliza Scanlen, Thomasin McKenzie, Aaron Pierre, Alex Wolff, Vicky Krieps, Abbey Lee, Embeth Davidtz, Rufus Sewell and Ken Leung star Old, which will debut in theaters this summer.
The safe box
Hey, it’s that boy from The good doctor (Freddie Highmore) joining Ser Davos from War of Thrones (Liam Cunningham) and Jean Gray (Famke Janssen) of X-Men to rob a bank (I mean, it would be quite a movie, but it’s just the actors, not the real characters. Sorry if I have a lot of hope) The crew will try to steal a lost treasure supposedly hidden in a safe under the Bank of Spain , while everyone is distracted during the World Cup. I like a good bank robbery movie. The safe box hits theaters and on demand on March 26.
F9: The Fast Saga
Vin Diesel and his impossibly deep voice are back in another edition of Fast and furious – the ninth in the franchise, hence the name. Dom Toretto de Diesel is living a peaceful and tranquil life, without disturbing anyone, and as you have seen more than one film in your life, you know it will not last. Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris and Jordana Brewster return to reprise their roles and join Helen Mirren (!), Charlize Theron and Cardi B, and of course, many fast cars. F9 is coming to theaters soon.
