New seasons of the war zone to bring “never done before” content from Call of Duty

Activision’s chief revenue officer Blizzard Esports spoke in an interview recently about some of the future plans for Call of Duty: Warzone and its integration into eSports.

In an interview with Inverse, Brandon Snow said that Warzone’s upcoming seasons will feature ‘cool new things’ that Warzone ‘has never done before’.

Activision continues to echo its comment on how it sees Warzone’s place in the Call of Duty franchise. The company believes that Warzone is the place to engage a larger and wider audience that can bring players together. It provides a common Call of Duty space for everyone to play freely.

We certainly see Warzone as a large ecosystem that can continue to engage players and provide places and spaces for people to come together. “

What’s coming up in Warzone is yet to be announced, but Snow has released a teaser on what fans can expect. He says the coming seasons will feature ‘new and cool things’ that will be done in the ‘Call of Duty’ style.

“In the coming seasons, you’ll see some really cool new things that Warzone has never done before. It will be very exciting and done in a Call of Duty waySnow said.

Snow just elaborated a little on what to expect.

In the interview, Snow says the 1980s Cold War theme ‘offers tons of opportunities’ for new content. At the moment, the only aspects of the Cold War theme that are in Warzone are Operators and weapons. The general theme of the decade has not yet entered the world of the war zone.

Only Warzone could do the things we planned for the next few seasons. Call of Duty: the Cold War identity and the ’80s theme offer countless opportunities for innovative content.

Snow also mentioned that Activision does not fully see Fortnite as a competitor. Snow said: “We don’t see Fortnite as a competitor. We are really focused on making Warzone the best it can be. Only Warzone could make zombies the way we do them. ”

For e-sports, Snow said they will have more to share about how they see Call of Duty: Warzone integrating into their programs in the coming weeks. Johanna Faries, from Activision Blizzard, has been pushing Warzone into the Call of Duty electronic sports ecosystem since the beginning of the year.

If we were to check with each other in about four to five weeks, we might be able to speak a little more specifically. We certainly see an opportunity for Warzone to play a part of our electronic sports product around the Call of Duty franchise. We plan to bring this to the table soon.

What the future holds for Call of Duty: Warzone in Year 2 is yet to be announced by Activision. The last season, the 2nd season, started at the end of February. And we’re running into some kind of event with new Activision teasers about zombies invading Verdansk.

The next Season of Warzone is scheduled for April 22, according to the game’s Battle Pass timer.
