New rumor makes the next OnePlus Nord phone look quite affordable

OnePlus has some phones in development and we expect to see three of them (read: OnePlus 9 series) before the end of March. However, there will not be a half year gap between these and the next OnePlus phone because the successor to OnePlus Nord is expected to be announced in the second quarter of 2021.

According to the new information, the phone will be called – you guessed it – Nord 2. We don’t know much about the phone, but new information that the report reveals is that it may not be equipped with a Qualcomm processor. Instead, the device is supposed to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 1200, which was unveiled in January.

The SoC, if used, could represent a considerable leap from the Snapdragon 765G employed in the original Nord. This is based on a 6 nm manufacturing process and has support for dual SIM dual 5G standby. Given the increase in processing power, it will be interesting to see how the OnePlus sets the prices and positions the phone in relation to the supposed OnePlus 9R and the 9 series as a whole.
