A new PlayStation leak revealed that a major PS4 game is being re-released on the PS5. When the PS4 came out, it looked like all the PS3 games and their brother were remastered and re-released on the PS4. And if that didn’t happen, the game was remade for the PS4. However, a big reason for this is because the PS4 was not backward compatible with the PS3. On PS5, this is not a problem because it plays virtually every PS4 game. However, this will not prevent all games from the relaunch route.
Right now, one of the most popular games on PS4, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, can be played on PS5, but only for backward compatibility. In other words, there is no suitable version of the game for PS5, but it looks like it is about to change.
On twitter, Gematsu reveals that retailer 365games recently listed Rainbow Six Siege Deluxe Edition by Tom Clancy for the PS5, apparently leaking the ad before Ubisoft could do that. There is currently no list for a version of the Xbox Series X, but it is safe to assume that a similar relaunch is in the works for Microsoft’s new console.
It is also safe to assume that the PS5 (and Xbox Series X) version will come with a variety of visual and performance updates, but for now, it remains to be seen how many features Ubisoft will put on the ports. Of course, it is worth remembering that for now, nothing here is official. The listing could be a mistake or it could be the retailer looking for traffic. It can also be a placeholder. However, do you know what else it could be? A genuine leak. If this is true, expect an announcement soon.
At the time of publication, Ubisoft did not comment on this leak in any way, and it is unlikely to change, but if it does, we will be sure to update the story with whatever the French game maker says.
