New photo shows Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana ahead of biopic Spencer | Biopics

A new image of Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana was released, while filming Spencer’s next biopic for the UK.

Stewart, 30, will play the late princess in the film, directed by Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín, whose biopic of Jackie Kennedy, starring Natalie Portman, won several Oscar nominations in 2017.

In the photograph, Stewart smiles directly at the camera, wearing a prosthetic nose and layered blond bob, as well as a plaid blazer and a diamond engagement ring that appear to be copies of those worn by the real woman.

The film’s release in the fall follows rave reviews for the latest season of Netflix’s The Crown, in which Emma Corrin played the princess, winning a Golden Globe for her performance, as did Josh O’Connor as Prince Charles.

The actor who plays Prince Charles in the new film will be Jack Farthing, better known as the villain George Warleggan in the BBC’s Poldark. Farthing, 35, also played John Lennon on the ITV series Cilla Black and appeared on The Riot Club, the big screen version of the play Posh.

The film is written by Steven Knight, from Peaky Blinders, and soundtrack by Jonny Greenwood, from Radiohead.

The supporting cast includes Timothy Spall, Sally Hawkins and Sean Harris. The actors playing the young princes William and Harry were not announced; Last year, British passport holders were excluded from the dispute over papers due to post-Brexit visa issues.

Spencer takes place over a decisive weekend in December 1991, during which Princess Diana spends the Christmas holidays with the royal family in Sandringham and decides to leave her marriage to Prince Charles.

“The wedding of the Prince and Princess of Wales has cooled a long time ago,” says a press release. “Although there are many rumors of cases and divorce, peace has been ordered for the Christmas festivities at Sandringham Estate. There is food and drink, shooting and hunting. Diana knows the game. This year, things will be very different. “

It is the first major film made about the princess since the ridiculed Diana of 2013, which starred Naomi Watts and was labeled “car crash cinema” by Peter Bradshaw of the Guardian.

Stewart described Spencer in a statement as “a dip into an emotional imagination of who Diana was at a crucial point in her life”.

Filming took place in Germany, but moved to the United Kingdom. The film is scheduled for release in the fall.
