The Joker has a new look.
We know that Jared LetoGotham City’s “damaged” version of Gotham City’s Prince of Crime Clown will appear in Zack Snyderrenewed version of Justice League when that much discussed project finally debuts on HBO Max next month. And now Snyder himself has shared a new photo of Jared Leto Joker, provoking a very different vibe for this once tense iteration of the character.
Incredible character you created. Honored to have our worlds collide. @DavidAyerMovies @JaredLeto pic.twitter.com/6FubzkPh4Y

As Snyder reminds us, Jared Leto created The Joker in 1940 with Bob Kane, Bill Finger and Jerry Robinson. (Oh, it was a fly on that wall!) Now, 81 years later, Leto is stepping in front of the camera to play him a second time – this time on Snyder’s ultra-hype “Snyder Cut” Justice League that is going to HBO Max. And as you can see – well, kind of see, since the image is so blurry – it looks a little different from the last time we saw it.
Instead of the short-haired maniac, combed back and wild eyes portrayed in 2016 Suicide squad, this Joker appears to have longer hair – almost more like Heath Ledger or Joaquin Phoenix’s interpretations of the character. This change in style may seem like it came out of nowhere, but Snyder actually warned fans about this change last year. “I wanted, of course, to honor what was created with him because I thought it was really cool,” said Snyder. “But there is – some water has passed under the proverbial bridge between the last time we saw Joker and this apparition. He’s a Joker tired of the road, I think that’s a way of saying it. “
Of course, don’t expect to see much of Leto’s “tired of the road” Joker in Zack Snyder’s film Justice League. Snyder previously indicated that there will only be a few minutes of new footage for this project, and most of the film will consist of things he originally filmed on the set of the 2017 film before he had to move away from that film and Joss Whedon took over. And remember that Snyder knows very well the power he has when posting images like these: it is possible that he is also trying to generate more interest for the so-called “Corte de Ayer” of Suicide squad, which director David Ayer said is more in line with his original vision for the film. “I accepted the blows like a good soldier when the studio cut took to the streets,” he tweeted last year. “It is who I am. I watched my cut for the first time since it was abandoned. It’s f * cking incredible. “
