“new partnership to bring three CVS pharmacies that will focus on vaccinating teachers and school staff, daycare workers, health professionals and DC residents aged 65 and over.”

From the Mayor’s Office:

“Today, Mayor Bowser and DC Health are announcing a new partnership to bring three CVS pharmacies that will focus on vaccinating teachers and school staff, child caregivers, health professionals and DC residents aged 65 and over. Eligible individuals will still pre-register through vaccinate.dc.gov, but will be instructed to schedule their appointment directly on the CVS website. In the next 7 to 10 days, 3,510 doses will be made available for this partnership. Two of the CVS pharmacies are in Ward 7 and one is in Ward 5.

Since the launch of the pre-registration system, about 28,236 people have pre-registered, received an invitation and scheduled an appointment. To date, approximately 202,824 people have signed up and are waiting for an appointment. At this time, all residents and district officials who have not yet been vaccinated are encouraged to pre-register, regardless of current eligibility.

This week, DC is receiving 27,140 doses of the vaccine – 14,400 doses for vaccinate.dc.gov; 5,610 doses for hospitals and health centers; and 7,130 doses for special initiatives (including the CVS partnership).

Beginning next week, the week of March 29, all essential workers in Phase 1C Level 2 will become eligible for the vaccine. This includes individuals working on non-public transport services (ie, to rent vehicles, share rides); individuals working in logistics / delivery / courier services; and key employees working in the media and mass communication. All essential workers must work personally in Washington, DC.

Last week, to make the pre-registration system more accessible, a Google Translate widget was added to the site. In addition, guides were loaded that explain the pre-registration process; these guides are available in English, Spanish, Amharic, French, Korean, Vietnamese and Chinese (simplified).

With the new pre-registration system, individuals can apply online at any time of the day via vaccinate.dc.gov or by phone by calling the call center at 1-855-363-0333, Monday through Friday , from 8am. 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm or on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Language translation services are available at the call center. Call center staff can also receive calls from 711, an FCC free video relay service that allows individuals to sign up with an interpreter who will be speaking on the phone with an attendant.

Currently, eligible individuals include: DC residents aged 65 and over; DC residents aged 18 to 64 with a qualified medical condition; and members of an eligible workforce. This week, DC Health expanded eligibility to include all essential workers in Phase 1B Tier 3 and Phase 1C Tier 1 who are working in person (teachers, childcare workers and school staff are eligible, regardless of whether they are currently working in person). Face-to-face workers who became eligible this week include: court employees and individuals who provide legal services; frontline employees of public (mass) transport; US Post Office employees; staff working in the food service; essential staff at local government agencies; essential public service employees; key employees in health, human and social service organizations / agencies who have not been vaccinated as community workers; people who work in the maintenance of commercial and residential properties and environmental services. Find out more about who is eligible at coronavirus.dc.gov/vaccine.

Each week, invitations are sent:

Thursdays at 10:00
Sundays at 10:00
And, only if any appointment still needs to be completed, Tuesdays until 10 am

Anyone who registers by 11:59 pm and is currently eligible for the DC vaccine will be part of the random selection process tomorrow morning. Once invitations are sent, individuals will have 48 hours to make an appointment. If a person does not make an appointment, their name will be returned to the pre-registration system (after three unanswered invitations, the person will need to register again in the system).

Eligible individuals are selected through a process that randomizes those who have already registered, according to the following division:

20% go to DC residents in priority postal codes who are 65 or older
20% go to DC residents in any zip code who are 65 or older
20% go to DC residents in priority postal codes who are between 18 and 64 years old with a qualified medical condition
20% go to DC residents in any zip code who are between 18 and 64 years old with a qualified medical condition
10% go to DC residents in priority postal codes who are members of an eligible workforce aged 18 or over
10% go to members of an eligible workforce aged 18 or over, regardless of home address

THE current list of priority postal codes includes: 20422, 20011, 20017, 20018, 20002, 20003, 20019, 20020, 20032, 20593. Priority postal codes are determined by identifying areas where residents have been disproportionately overwhelmed by COVID-19 and areas that are behind in COVID vaccination -19 coverage.

Mayor Bowser’s three operating principles for the new registration system are: 1) an equitable distribution of the vaccine; 2) a consistent programming cadence so that residents know what to expect; and 3) a shared responsibility, across our community, to obtain pre-registered people.

Qualifying medical conditions include: Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and other Chronic Pulmonary Diseases; Bone Marrow and Solid Organ Transplantation; Cancer; Cerebrovascular disease; Chronic Kidney Disease; Congenital Heart Disease; Diabetes Mellitus; Cardiac Conditions, such as Heart Failure, Coronary Artery Disease or Cardiomyopathies; HIV; Hypertension; Immunocompromised state; Hereditary metabolic diseases; Intellectual and developmental disabilities; Liver disease; Neurological conditions; Obesity, BMI ≥ 30 kg / m2; Pregnancy; Serious Genetic Diseases; Sickle cell anemia; and thalassemia. Residents who are unsure whether they qualify for the vaccine based on a qualified medical condition should contact their doctor.

At the moment, individuals aged 18 and over must pre-register at vaccinate.dc.gov or the district call center. District residents aged 16 or 17 with a qualified medical condition who are not existing patients at Children’s National Hospital or HSC, can pre-register for a vaccination at Children’s National Hospital by following the link posted on coronavirus.dc . gov / vaccine.

DC still needs more vaccine and we will continue to advocate for additional doses so that we can save lives and meet the demands of our community. ”
