New Overwatch 2 designs for Reaper, McCree, Pharah and Widowmaker revealed

Overwatch 2 it had a lesser presence on BlizzConline than some of the other Blizzard Entertainment games – partly because the game is still a long way off – but the Overwatch team didn’t appear empty handed. During the show, Blizzard took a behind-the-scenes look at the sequel to Overwatch, including new looks for the heroes and villains of that game.

Blizzard highlighted design reviews for four characters: McCree, Pharah, Reaper and Widowmaker. In some cases, the changes are not particularly drastic; McCree still has his cowboy hat and punch, but he, like others Overwatch 2 characters, has a slightly more technical appearance to him. Oh, and your beard is a little longer – everyone’s beard is longer, apparently.

And then there is Widowmaker. As you can see in the gallery below, Blizzard tried some more dramatic looks for the sniper. Blizzard ended up opting for something a little more “cyberpunk”, according to the main character’s conceptual artist, Arnold Tsang.

Widowmaker is also wearing a braid now … and some questionable armor.

Pharah keeps his armor complete, but has a more translucent visor to show more emotion, Tsang said, and a little more white in his color scheme. Reaper, on the other hand, maintains the same silhouette and edgelord style, but now has a more silver look. But otherwise, the heroes and villains in Overwatch 2 retain many elements of their original designs.

Overwatch 2 has no release date yet, but Activision Blizzard said it does not expect the game in 2021.
