New Ohio State Offers “Speechless” After Speaking to Buckeyes

The Buckeyes offered a scholarship to only two candidates in 2023 from the state of Ohio, defensive side of the Mentor Brenan Vernon and Pickerington Central athlete Sonny Styles. However, that changed this afternoon when they extended an offer to the 2023 striker Luke Montgomery of Findlay, Ohio. Montgomery posted the offer on his Twitter account.

“After a great call, I am very excited and blessed to receive an offer to play football at THE Ohio State University,” Montgomery posted on Twitter.

The 1.8m and 80kg Montgomery played mainly on the defensive line this season, mainly in the tackle. He also played a bit of a tight end, mainly to block. He is being recruited as a lineman on both sides of the ball. The Buckeyes offered him as an offensive striker.

“Coach (Greg) Studrawa offered,” said Montgomery. “I called you. I was speechless, let’s say that. I was so excited.”

In addition to Ohio State, Montgomery has an offer list of 16 offers that also includes Notre Dame, Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, Florida State, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Penn State, Toledo and others.

Montgomery also discussed his college position with Bucknuts.

“I presume a tackle (for the state of Ohio),” said Montgomery. “The state of Michigan offered me as a defensive tackle. Some say the offensive line, others say the offensive tackle. Most say offensive tackle.

Montgomery is in no hurry to make a decision.

“I would say after the next football season,” said Montgomery. “Definitely, not yet. I would say maybe in about a year. “
